On behalf of the Derpibooru staff, I would like to thank each and every one of you for making this community what it is. Whether you’re an artist, a regular in the comments section, an er, or just someone who lurks silently, you help make the site what it is today.
I would also like to give a huge thanks to everyone who submitted their characters to this collab I was blown away by how many submissions this little project received - I seriously wasn’t expecting even a hundred characters total, but instead, there are nearly three times that amount in this picture.
And I would especially like to thank all the wonderful artists who offered to draw OCs for other people, for free, so that they can also be included in this celebration. That was an amazing and kind thing to do, so thank you! And I have been keeping track of everyone who offered to do so too, so if you’re one of those artists, expect a little reward within the next few days ;)

And there’s 80 leaving per day as well. If you look at the site statistics the rate has remained fairly constant for the past 8 years, so it has not really changed in size too much with respect to how fast people . There could be more lurkers now but yeah, wouldn’t really consider them part of the community if they don’t participate in the site.

Didn’t they also loosen the restrictions? So I think the first one was limited to the regular pony races you see in the show, and in moderately similar art-style.

It has to be one of the most active independent communities outside of mainstream social media platforms that have since siphoned many fans from other fandoms away from individual forums that used to dominate the 2000s internet.
I dunno how this place does it.
But I have a feeling it’s the generally lenient atmosphere of this place that attracts many to stay here. If you look at a lot of other forum communities, they tend to have some rather Draconian policies of what we can or cannot post and abusive moderation staff. Though, from personal experience this place is far from perfect either. Then again, if anyone knows me, I tend to push the boundaries of things.

Based on the site traffic I don’t think the size of Derpi has changed all that much (unless people’s individual rate averages are shifting over time). I think this image just had fewer people since the deadline for it as I recall was much quicker than the more recent ones and no one really knew about it or had time to prepare since it was the first one.
