Starlight is likable; her social ineptitude, tendency for shortcuts and exessive worrying is relatable for many people.
My opinion? The reason many people still hate her is ironically similar to why Starlight harbored hate against Cutie Marks for many years: Perceived Justice. Bronies feel that Starlight has not been punished for anything she has done. Frankly I feel that the bronies’ obsession with justice is misplaced.
However, I do agree that Starlight must perform community service for Our Town. She has done them wrong, and must make ammends. Do this, and Starlight is redeemed.
Empathy’s an extremely useful social skill once you learn how to use it, but it’s hard to learn. Weirdly, asking anyone to talk about their feelings directly is usually the wrong way to go about it.
Starlight’s slowly winning me over with lines like this. It’s kinda hard to nail her personality down, she’s got a little bit of everything. She’s witty, impulsive, manipulative, sarcastic, self conscious, self deprecating, reserved and perhaps emotionally repressed, and constantly worries about accidentally destroying her livelihood and all of Equestria with it.
You know, like a normal person.
Lol, extremely relatable. Perhaps one of the most relatable moments in the show.
Though it’s really sweet when you finally overcome the shyness and discomfort and open up to someone close.
But outside of that, no, just no…
It’s uncomfortable for a reason. You don’t want to open up to someone who doesn’t care. That’s just painful. And people really don’t/won’t until you’re close.
Th last thing the show should do, is to please the bronies… god please no.
