In my opinion, the story isn’t half bad. I especially like the whole motherly feels Celestia has towards Spike. And Sheogorath makes a VERY notable appearance.

No problem, Dragons and ancient Egypt mythology are two things I loved as a kid, so I have learned some interesting things about both that most tend misunderstand, the modern interpretation of dragons being thought of as what dragons have always been is just something I find silly, some dragons are really nothing more then giant and/or warm-blooded snakes.
Interesting. I guess I should have realized this sooner, since I do like to look into this kind of thing. I guess what I’m holding onto is a much more modern interpretation of dragons.

Yep, also to note, in most dragon in legend in the reality where a dragon has a name, outside of Chain and Japan, it’s not the four legged kind, I have a book with some in it, and only Fafnir is a named four legged dragon in it, the others are just “the dragon” or not one with four legs.
Hmm, there might be something to this. Weren’t all serpent like monsters just refered to as wyrms back then, though?
Wyverns are seen more as a seperate species also because they are smaller than dragons, less intelligent and they don’t live as long. The Skyrim dragons seem to be somewhere in between this all.

Will here is doing thing to think about, some of the earliest stories of dragons have them serpent-like, as in no legs, so a dragon doesn’t really have to have four legs, just have certain key features, and wyvern have all of them, so it’s more a subspecies of dragon, it’s really only the European dragon that has to have four lead but it also has to have wings, there are five Greek dragons and three of them serpents and one more of them is the hydra(it has two legs, in face in legends dragon with no legs out number any with leg, two or four.

I think you missed the point, because there are dragons with and without wings some people may think a dragons has to have at lest four limbs, wings count as limbs, so a wyvern being called a dragon makes more sense then limbless “dragons” or other creatures with scales added being called that.
Sorry, but wings have nothing to do with it. Dragons have front legs. Dragons can be winged or wingless, in which case they are often refered to as drakes. Wyverns have two hind legs and wings instead of forelegs.

A dragon needs to have at least 4 legs, not at least 4 limbs. I’m pretty sure of that.

But then again eastern dragons have four legs and no wings, it’s western dargons that have wings, so a wyvern being a dragon makes sense.
