Ah… okay then. I came up with something similar.
I think that this possible Diego/Sunset hybrid would combine some parts of their personalities. It’d probably be a sort of combination between Sunset’s manipulation/cyber-bullying in the first movie and Diego’s more human moments. This Sunset/Diego would probably play a part in redeeming the Valentine character I posited yesterday. Of course, this Valentine character would try to follow his justice to the very end, so the most this Sunset/Diego could do is make him stop using the items and come down, but he’d still be pretty mad that his plan was ruined. It’s not an outright reformation, as I feel we have had far too many of those, but he would come quietly once he knows he’s been beat, and probably go back to being friends with Mayor Mare… after he’s served his punishment of course.
I’d like some more input, what do you all think? Should we wait for the next Equestria Girls or continue speculating on villains? Will this JoJo pattern continue or will these similarities turn out to be coincidence? And probably most importantly… Should we add a “discussion in the comments” tag?

And now to end the most roundabout discussion I’ve ever had on the internet, spanning the course of a few weeks. Let’s assume for a minute that the hypothetical Diavolo/Pucci combo I thought of as the main villain of the EQG 5/6 actually would be the villain. Where would we go from there? Would we go down the Steel Ball Run route and have it set in an alternate universe of an alternate universe? If so, I would like to create an equivalent to Funny Valentine. He’d probably find a separate portal from the one in CHS’s plaza/courtyard/whatever it’s called. If I had to make a guess, probably somewhere out of town. This Valentine clone would discover it with a colleague, probably Mayor Mare, and they would debate over its purpose. Is it there to be used immediately for the sake of the city or studied to make sure it isn’t dangerous? After all, Stands and magic are extremely difficult to control. Maybe if we’re lucky, we can get a mention of Meadow Brook’s nine magical items that were mentioned in the Season 5 two-parter, probably even as an equivalent to the Holy Corpse parts. He’d probably use these items to become some kind of godly figure, like how DIO did in Eyes of Heaven. His plans would be nothing but well-intentioned, but since the Mane 7/8 have dealt with enough of this magic shit already, they’d try to stop him. It’s about the best idea I have for Valentine… Diego however… I don’t really have an idea for him just yet. Any suggestions?

Ooh, that’d be cool! I don’t know why I didn’t think about that before, but you’ve outshone 6 days in the past me in of ideas… but according to one of the Rainbow Rocks shorts, Discord might be entirely fictional, so…
But still, I’d love to see Discord in the EQG universe.

i would still prefer seeing EG discord with powers that JUST WORKS and then see sunset or twilight or just everyone get a super OP power and wreck him

When I wrote that as @Background Pony #5DC8, I honestly just counted the specials as one movie, as two of them were connected. The closest comparison I could make for the Shadowbolts was La Squadra, and Man in The Mirror’s Illuso was part of them. When EQG 5/6 comes out, I think the big bad would be a sort of compromise between Diavolo and Pucci. Probably having a bit of Diavolo’s split personality problem, but instead of Doppio, we have this polite person who expresses an interest in magic for the sake of bettering humanity through some kind of acceptance of fate and for the purpose of filling a friend’s dream. Kinda like Pucci’s scheme in Stone Ocean, only at an easier to understand level.
Y’know, most of these comparisons were with the big bad of whatever part was being drawn parallel to. It’d be pretty hard to replicate the whole Diavolo split personality thing in a kids’ cartoon, but I guess Juniper kinda felt like a discount Doppio, and her monster form was just too much like Diavolo, what with how drastically larger she became, like how Doppio became a hulking beast like Diavolo. That being said, I totally get the Man in the Mirror comparison, but I still think it would’ve been nice to keep the pattern going along.

Not before the CMC kill some gay black guy trying to attain heaven for his bisexual vampire friend with a bunch of bad guys named after fashion designers, CDs containing psychic powers, an evil goblin baby, and a chant that involves saying rhinoceros beetle four times.
