After the first movie failed to launch the franchise, the script for Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League underwent some reworking and found new life under the name Big Trouble in Little China, so it did actually get made, kinda.
There’s actually times when a movie is better that the book it’s supposedly based on. I enjoyed Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a bonafide classic.

I agree with the principle of remaking flawed, dated, or mediocre movies rather than movies that got it right the first time. Having said that, though… Ghostbusters, “utterly perfect”? Really? That’s the nostalgia talking.

It looks like most, if not all, of the significant cast are still alive, though I worry how many of them would feel (or be seen as) too old to appear in the sequel…
Twilight Sparkle absolutely would be proud of Flurry Heart for that. Also you can’t have a movie without a shoehorned love interest, everyone knows that :D
Huh, they do seem a bit similar now that you mention it.
We need an intentionally campy action/comedy movie nowadays.

How about rather then a remake, we get a proper sequel to “The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the Eighth Dimension?”

Never gonna happen, they’d have to renovate the Statue of Liberty all over again. That’d be way too expensive.
