I only offered the opinion due to a few of Mars’ posts referring to some of his darker themes just ‘happening’ without his noticing.
As an (ittedly crap) creator myself, sometimes my stories stick in my head, change, and go completely off the rails from where I wanted them to, sometimes forcing me to restructure my story to the point of unrecognizablity from the planned outcome.
Noticing this in Mars’ posts, I figured I might have come across a similar situation.
And the only reason I commented at all beyond ‘poor Venus’ was the trend of the comments leaning towards ‘Mars has crossed a line!’ And wanted to give my 2 cents.
And here we go again psychoanalyzing people/characters over the internet. Jesus. Whether or not Mars’ venusabuse fetish amounts to this or that is exactly as pointless an argument as whether or not Raibow Dash is a lesbian.

OR, or, hear me out, this is pretty revolutionary stuff: he’s a guy with a rape fetish that also likes drawing, and to give some sort of context to his pictures he has created a backstory and so certain themes are bound to come up.
He has a pretty varied taste in rape (well who fucking knows, knowing what is commissions and what isn’t), foalcon, female on male, gay, all that stuff (the only I can’t is lesbian, I can recall like two pictures) so it only follows that he’d like some contexts, because here’s the thing: rape, as a fetish, is about pain, not unlike comedy. It can be about many other things, like control, getting over feelings of inadequacy (unless you’re Ed Kemper), etc, but this all comes as a result of pain, of unwillingness. And if you’re to draw so much of it, you’re going to write a backstory for it, if not to create plausible context (which is not necessary in porn) then to further enhance that pain.
It’s very much emotional pornography. It’s not just the rape, it’s the scars that it leaves. The pain on the victim’s parents after they discover that their little girl or boy filly or colt has been completely robbed of innocence for no fault of his own. Or in incest, knowing that the mistreatment of the one most close to the victims were the ones to ultimately betray her/him, and that those scars will last forever.
Yes, it sounds dark, and gross and disgusting, but that’s because it is. I’m not condemning rape porn, mind you, I just said before I’m a pretty big fan of his work because it’s realistic (in the realm of rape porn as expressed through pastel coloured cartoon horses, of course), but make no mistake, all of that attachment and all of those feelings are very much a perverse sentimentality out of the fetishization of the effects of rape (rather than the act itself) and it’s catharsis is not unlike that of the climax a voyeur feels when he sees some victim describe their attack in detail.

The other one has a negative score, weird fix fics in the comments and people actually triggered into considering stealing Venus (the IP, I guess?) from marsminer. Then the same picture with a black eye gets a positive score. What the hell is going on?
