I know this is four years old but I felt that :o I kinda like this statement of yours though, it sounds very novel like to me. Maybe just how I’m wired but it resonated :)

Even if they didn’t transform then, Thorax’s policies as king would eventually get them to transform anyway. He wants everyone to be friends and get along, so sharing love would become unavoidable for the changelings unless they left the hive.
As such, I could see this being a sort third form between his sparkly wings and his full transformation. This would be his form while he’s technically the new leader of the changelings, but hasn’t yet gotten them to accept sharing love and being friends over stealing love and only looking out for themselves. He gained his new form after confronting Chrysalis and sharing love with her, so maybe he could also gain it once he got other changelings to begin doing it.
He doesn’t even necessarily have to be fully evil here. I imagine this could also happen in an AU where Starlight and friends got rid of Chrysalis in a slightly less love and friendship based way and never discovered the Changedling transformation.
Without its queen’s command, the starving swarm will become an even greater threat to Equestria. Control must be maintained…

Or, you know, a Hive King in this case, I suppose.
I wonder how one would ‘upgrade on the evil side’, seeing as the reformed changelings got that way through sharing love as opposed to stealing it, which clearly wouldn’t work for an ‘evil’ changeling who still, presumably isn’t sharing.

I think it’s more deliberate for certain pictures to pose differently than men. Maybe, she would be in a different pose?

I didn’t know females intrinsically stood in different poses by default. :P
