I feel like you’re taking all of this much more seriously than I am.
I just think it’s fun to slag on David Cage because he’s a hokey writer who always manages to screw up his own stories with dumb nonsense that makes it funny. There’s always the potential to be great, and there are a lot of good ideas to be found in any of his games, but he always makes one or two shockingly dumb choices that turn what could be an amazing experience into simply… ze bad game.

Well if Detroit is bad because it’s predictable, you must loathe Friendship is Magic, no? Because they’re incredibly similar… FiM’s just a bit more predictable. Which is fine to me, but to you, it seems to be a pretty big issue.

Heavy Rain, Indigo Prophecy, Beyond Two Souls, and Omikron all had “character is in danger of drowning” segments.
It’s not about being inherently bad, it’s about how utterly predictable it is based on David Cage’s track record as a writer/director. You can guess what he’s going to write, what he’s going to make the player do, and what parts he’s going to completely fuck up before you ever even turn the game on.
Again, he’s like Tommy Wiseau. You know from the start it’s going to be awful, but the ways in which it’s awful are legitimately fascinating to observe.

It’s not that he doesn’t want to. He just knows the odds. David Cage making ze good game is less likely than me having an actual threeway with Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. “Quantic Dream” is as much a warning sign as “LJN” was in its day.

I feel like the fact that DROWNING is a square should be a red flag.
Regardless, you see how far beyond retarded this bingo sheet is, right? Set aside the fact that the game dodges the majority of the squares, and the fact that most of the tropes aren’t even inherently bad, the fact that you’re even participating says to me that you don’t want to like it. That you’re interested in even giving it a try.
In all seriousness, if this game was only the connor parts, and like, 10-20 dollars on release, it’d be a 9/10. His portion of the game is fantastic. Markus and Kara start out strong but get really weak and poorly written as the game progresses.

Using the phrase “wrong opinion” automatically makes you the one who’s wrong. I hate David Cage with a burning ion but as much as I hate to it it, other than some extremely heavy handed garbage, the game is actually relatively competent as far as I’ve seen. Then again so was indigo prophecy for the most part.

Hey, it’s not my fault David Cage always makes ze bad game. The guy is medically incapable of writing a coherent story or presenting it in a competant manner.
That being said I do highly recommend all of his games, because as a writer and director he is fascinatingly incompetent, and therein lies the entertainment value. He’s like the games industry’s Tommy Wiseau.
