I think it would be easy for him to break the spell, he just prefered to by it so Glimmy could see how futile it was.

The implication with Starlight just BANNING Discord from school is this: That means Starlight managed to prevent Discord’s physical body from entering school ground. That means Starlight somehow did an Anti-Discord Spell. Now THAT, is some really powerful shit. Starlight, a single unicorn without the elements, somehow blocks Discord from entering that he had to turn into a spirit to get in? Damn.
I am pretty sure that she could only banish him because he let her.
I also think that he could have broken her ban at any time, for him it was just more fun this way.

I think it’s easier to travel between Discord’s world and the MLP world than EQG to MLP, due to them seeming to be similar enough to the point where your species doesn’t change.

It could had vaporize his body but what if when she used again the spell to bring Discord back that meant that she was able to re-build his body?
Not probably dead since it was technically just a banishing spell. The could affect their bodies as they could be moving around with their spirit only like Discord but without powers.

It is indeed powerful as she managed to get a banishing spell when not even Twilight could at the time. Meaning that Starlight is probably more powerful than unicorn Twilight. This kind of power can explainable as she has Twilight as a mentor. The power of the laser beam could had been out of rage.

So. Using said evidence we can conclude that Starlight DID vaporize his physical body, not just teleport it somewhere outside the school ground.
Now imagine Starlight casting the same spell on some other characters…they’d probably be dead as in…their physical body would be gone.
