Eventually they did figure out that people would be interested in older characters.I think the problem with Disney was they didn’t distinguish different rangers as characters,or the seasons as having anything of narrative substance.
The seasons were fine, as were the production team directly responsible for them. But Disney as a company? The only reason they got Power Rangers in the first place was because they bought Fox Family and the entire Fox Kids library came with that purchase.
They had planned to cancel Power Rangers after Wild Force but Doug Sloan (which used to work on PR but was working for Disney at the time) convinced them that it would be very cheap to move production to New Zealand.
But those Disney executives were a real pain. For example, they refused to let Forever Red be a two parter because these executives did not understand why someone would want to “ old out of production toys”. In the end, Forever Red was barely made and the budget was lowered so much by Disney that they had to get help from Bandai to fund the episode. They did it in exchange for advertising the bike at the end of the episode (so the original finale with all the Red Ranger Zords attacking Serpenterra went unused).
So maybe that’s what he meant by better then Disney.
I those seasons get WAY too much undeserved flack. SPD is what got me watching Power Rangers again, and it’s by far one of my favorite seasons. Mystic Force is also great (so what if they focus too much on Nick? Name me ONE PR season where the Red Ranger doesn’t hog the spotlight). Operation Overdrive, while not good, is nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Ninja Storm had a really cool concept, even if the execution is somewhat lacking. Dino Charge works excellently as a callback to the Mighty Morphin era (far more than any of the “Neo-Saban” seasons). Jungle Fury was decent enough.
In fact, RPM, the season everyone adores, is the one I think it’s the weakest.
(not sure if Wild Force counts as a Disney season, but if it does, it was pretty good, too).

Probably because they’re the new arrival, a franchise that has existed for a long time but only became Hasbro’s just now. They’re the ones being welcomed to the family!
Also, can’t help but notice they used the original Rangers. Think this means we’ll get more team-ups?
Oh,hey I just realized.Saban still had the rights to Glitter Force all this time?I thought the rights reverted back to whoever in Japan like Digimon did.

Disney still had a better run with Power Rangers that the the neo-saban.
The neo-saban beera really only have one legitimately good season(dino charge) and even then the ending was f****** terrible. Ninja Steel isn’t bad but it’s heavily flawed at the very least it did give us a good anniversary special

Well, it’ll easily be better than if modern day-Disney still had it. Assuming they didn’t try to kill the series like they kept trying to do before, they’d probably try to change up the main Ranger to be one of the female of the team, and except rather than make her a well-written character, like Jen from Time Force, they’d just go by the whole, “well, she’s a girl, so she’s automatically more awesome than everyone!” and call it a day.
Granted, it’s a worse case scenario, but it’s not like that hasn’t happened with some other things Disney owns.
It’s worse then that. It’s only 20 episodes a year (Nick doesn’t count the holiday clip shows, so there’s 22 with those). And the hiatus that splits those episodes up is much longer then the mid season hiatus for Friendship is Magic.
Saban had a contract with Nick for the next few years. I hope Hasbro somehow gets around this episode limit but they might have to deal with this until the contract expires.
Hopefully hasbro is smart enough to adapt Uchu Sentai Kyuranger after Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters is finished.
Seriously Kyuranger is one of the best Super Sentai series to come out in awhile and if hasbro does decide to adapt it they better do it right and not half-ass anything.

The biggest problem will be Nickelodeon and his policy of 26 episodes per season.
