I wonder when will people realize stuff like is always usually posted not by fans of the ship, but by haters instead, so people will be irritated by it and the anti-bandwagon. May not be the case 100% of the time but its obvious it almost always is.

Yeah, their pony ages being in their teens makes no sense. Rarity owns a franchise business. Twilight at the very least has graduated the highest form of schooling in Equestria. Rainbow Dash is on a professional sports team. All of the ponies sans AJ have moved away from home. These aren’t common 16 year old things..

We know what a five year old foal looks like. We saw sweetie at that age and she looked far younger than twilight did when she got her mark. That’s why 6-8 is more credible.

Why is exactly people here assume that Mane 6 are around 16-17?
They are not the same as their EQG counterparts, and act much more mature - around low 20s. For example, they all have jobs and show planning and foresight in their professional lives that is uncharacteristic for teenagers.
Based on this, Spike is likely around 15, given that he goes through what amounts to dragon puberty. (Also long lived != slow aging).

When she started school she was far too young to have the level of control over her powers that a six to eight year old would have had. She most likely was still a toddler.

Twilight probably was only about 3 or 4. You forget that she is quite possibly the smartest person in Equestria, showed potential for extremely powerful magic at a very early age and like most geniuses probably started school much younger than is normal.

Yeah… except time doesn’t work like that. If all of the main six are around 17, and Twilight was around 6-8 when she hatched Spike, that makes him 6-8 years younger than the mane six. If they are all over 20, he’s still going to be 6-8 years younger.

Spike doesn’t look like a baby. He looks like a 13 year old. He probably is 13. He’s definitely older than the cutie mark crusaders and instead of being a student at Twilight’s school, his role falls between secretary and janitor. Rarity is probably about 17, which makes the age difference between only 4 years.

If she is a teenager somehow, he would in turn have to be no more than 9-11 years old depending on Twilight’s age when she hatched him. Given around a decade it wouldn’t be so wide of a gap, but it’s not something that should be reciprocated now. You think there was outrage over Derpy just imagine the outcry over and adult looking mare and a baby looking dragon.
Basically, as it is, Spike’s crush is cute. It becomes creepy if Rarity acts on it.

The crush is influencing many of Spike’s actions, and there’s that thing called “character development”. So how this crush develop and changes with Spike’s growth is a minor subplot. There’s been that rather sarcastic and self aware moment in “Simple Ways”, for example.
“Lyrabon” is hinted at, but never openly stated as “hey these two are romantically interested in each other” (there’s also this trope after all). Spike’s crush on Rarity, on the other hand, is explicitly stated since episode 1.
MLP has been pretty good with character development and continuity even in minor things, so resolving Spike’s crush situation would be reasonable.
I love this ship, personally.

Superboy is a clone and is only 2 years old while Shazam is really just a 10 year old boy that turns into the body of an adult.

Technically Rarity herself is still only a teenager. in Equestria, teenagers seem to be treated the same as actual adults.
To me, yes. Or at least he is a teen now. Still too young for Rarity. But once he is fully grown-up and still likes Rarity, then I am fine with it.
