I still can’t get used to the Care Bears having “Belly Badges”, it just still sounds so…weird to my ears.
Back in the G1 CB cartoons, I don’t know if they were ever specifically referred to by any of the characters, but they were generally referred to outside the show as “Tummy Symbols”. :3

I wouldn’t say I was a fan as much as I didn’t necessarily change the channel when it came on after MLP. Having a lot of the same VAs helped as well. Heck, a lot of the Hub/DF shows dipped from the same VA pool, even LPS’s successor had Ingrid Nilson, Vincent Tong, and Kyle Rideout in the main cast.

Yeah, LPS was also kind of a special case. Based on a traditionally girly property, people (like me as you can see from my profile pic) grew to like it because it was at least somewhat clever in its storytelling. Granted it definitely didn’t have even a quarter of the same fanbase as MLP did, but it was a similar phenomenon to bronies, just at a much smaller scale. But also keep in mind that most of the LPS fans were bronies who just checked out another show on the Hub, with a lot of the same voice cast.
Honestly, though, this got me thinking: while I haven’t seen any Care Bears TV show, IF they did make a genuinely good Care Bears show, would bronies have been drawn into it just as much as we were drawn into MLP?
It sounds silly, but how many of us thought the same about MLP:FiM before “ing the herd”?

Doesn’t mean it wasn’t, either. Hasbro has the toy rights, so it stands to reason. A quick check didn’t bring up exactly who did this particular version. If Hasbro didn’t, then apply my comment to whoever did.
I don’t think so, but I’m entirely in favor of the initiative to call male nurses “care dudes” from now on. I’ll have to keep that one in mind for my next bout with ebola.
Hasbro didn’t understand the lightning in a bottle that was FiM. It was a combination of factors, and not simply because we picked up on some random Hasbro property that just happened to be refreshed.
I had at least five different Care Bear plushies in my collection growing up, compared to zero ponies… but I’ve seen every episode of FiM and zero episodes of the latest Care Bears reboot, and haven’t seen any reason to start watching it, especially after they ruined Share Bear. Shake with two straws > two lollipops.

American Greetings owns the IP. The show was on The Hub, which was co-owned/ran by Hasbro. The statement was put out by the PR firm for The Hub.
All you’ll do is cause a disaster.
