@Zeb: Sorry. When I did what I did, I didn’t expect the argument to get this bad. Even when considering how commonplace the argument’s subject matter is.

I think you both need to chill and go do something else that you’ll actually enjoy. Maybe go play some Fire Emblem~

Certainly better than returning to a 5 year old argument.
Yes, I’ve read literally nothing you’ve said. How did you know?

You know, it’s people like you that show why newer players hate the people who talk about how great the older Fire Emblem games were. This is fucking why. Because “Oh, you’re using that character? Don’t you know they’re absolute shit? If you’re not using these VERY SPECIFIC CHARACTERS you’re playing the game wrong”. Like, maybe I don’t care? The game isn’t made that only a single specific combination can beat the game, it’s why the game gives you various characters with the possibility that some of them died in mind, so that IF you lost characters to fulfill this role, here. Have this person who isn’t AS good but is better than nothing.

Oh wait shit I forgot my place in this argument, let me revise this to be correct.

My opinion is bad, your opinion is fact. I am a dumb retard who doesn’t know how to read. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right. You are right.

We good now or am I gonna keep copy pasting til I’m left to stew in my obvious retardation?
Background Pony #F0F4
@Technature: I want you to stop getting angry for completely no reason, and start showing some maturity. Especially since it doesn’t sound like you either haven’t read or don’t agree with what I’m saying. Not to mention, negativity brings everypony down. Don’t be negative, be positive.
I said you win, what else do you fucking want? Your opinion is fact. I’ll say it as much as you want if you just. Shut. UP!

If you hate Nino that much, then whatever. I don’t really care at this point.
And it’s comments like this one that anger me. I’ll have you know that Nino’s actually one of my most liked characters in the game. And even I know that she stinks as a unit. I just want to dispell any misconceptions about her being a good unit. That’s all.

I just want you to stop touting an opinion as fact, but that’s clearly not gonna happen in my life time.
Nino being a weak unit that s very late in the game, and offering very little of what Erk and Pent don’t offer, isn’t a matter of opinion in the slightest. Have you ever been on most FE fansites, such as Serenes, and taken a look at tier lists and rate the unit topics? Nino’s consistently low tier if not bottom tier and given low ratings as a unit. It’s hardly just me that sees Nino as a bad unit.

Seriously, if we’re going through this shit, then Canas is literally the only person you need.
Except Canas isn’t the best unit in the game either. Nevermind that there’s really no units in FE7 that can break the game as much as, say, Seth can break FE8. Marcus comes close to being such a unit, but even he has limits.

Fuck literally the rest of the army. Especially since effort is the last thing we want in a game.
And here, you’re just putting words in my mouth, aren’t you? I never said that effort was necessarily bad. Only that Nino required too much of it, especially for such a late time, and it doesn’t justify what you’ll get from training her, which is true. That doesn’t change the fact that even some of the better units in the game, such as Sain and Florina for example, require effort to function properly. The difference between them and Nino is that the effort is more than justified for those two, as they early enough to take advantage of any effort put in them, and they actually can offer benefits few other units in the game can offer once trained. You definitely need Florina’s help for the water tile hell that is Night of Farewells, for one. Whereas Sain’s probably the only unit in the game who can match Marcus in of contributions.
If you hate Nino that much, then whatever. I don’t really care at this point.

Nino’s stats are on average higher than Erks at the same level, who’s stats are on average higher than Pent’s at the same level.
Except that’s just it. They’re not going to be at the same level.

Erk, at the same level as Pent? Maybe. But since there’s some Guiding Ring competition in the form of Canas and Lucius, and Pent’s perfectly capable of more than just filling any Anima needs you might have (especially since he has a Staff rank of A, making able to use stuff like Warp and Rescue at base level), promoting Erk would be superfluous.

Nino, on the other hand, starts off at Lvl 5 unpromoted during when the bulk of your team is already at or past that in promoted classes. She’s playing catch-up with your entire team until Endgame, where everyone on your team is as strong as it can be.

Speaking of which, the statistical differences between the three aren’t worth mentioning either because at no point does Pent have any trouble killing an enemy that isn’t a boss. Not to mention, his Spd differences in comparison to Erk’s is offset by his greater CON, especially if you use Elfire. Pent also has greater durability, which is helped by his Auto-A with Louise.

It means keeping Nino alive is difficult when you have it, but she is near guaranteed to be useful if you put in the time and work for it.
Bolded the key words for you. And it’s a lot of time and effort you have to put in, believe me. First of all, Nino only has about 6 chapters of screentime left; hardly any time for growth at all for someone who s at Lvl 5 unpromoted. To make matters worse, everything that she’s facing during her own screentime can kill her without effort. One false move with Nino, and she’s dead. And if that weren’t enough, she can’t do any killing while unpromoted, forcing her to take kills from other units. And when she finally promotes and later catches up to your team, what is she doing that Erk or Pent can’t by then? All I can think of is contribute to the EXP rank. And even then, she’s arguably not necessary there.
Nino’s stats are on average higher than Erks at the same level, who’s stats are on average higher than Pent’s at the same level. It means keeping Nino alive is difficult when you have it, but she is near guaranteed to be useful if you put in the time and work for it.

@Technature: How is it “worth the effort” if the same results can be obtained from training Erk, who comes earlier? Or if Pent doesn’t need effort to do the same things a trained Nino can?
Maybe some people feel the effort in training Nino is worth the effort. Maybe others don’t.

It is an opinion. Do not tout your opinion as fact.
Background Pony #F0F4
@Technature: “Nino is a good unit” is not an opinion, it’s a misconception.
Opinions are not false information.
Background Pony #F0F4
@Technature: Just trying to nip false information in the bud.
Five years later and you’re still talking about that? Does it really matter?
Background Pony #F0F4
@Background Pony #859A: Again, Nino’s not a good unit, let alone comparable to Pent.
Background Pony #110C
No, Hector. You can’t take Sweetie Belle with you. I don’t care how good her resistance stat is.
Background Pony #110C
@Raikomaru
Add Afa’s Drops into the mix and you’ve got one heck of a good unit.
Background Pony #110C
Ah, Sweetie Belle. A little filly with no cutie mark, and yet still a better mage than Erk.

Doesn’t have anything on Pent and Nino, though
Background Pony #6282
Two years later…
At least Sweetie Belle’s cooking can be used as projectiles, there’s the upside.
@Trickquestion

Eliwood gets thrown overboard by Hector, team gets slaughtered at next stop

Jokes aside, better a Filly then a fully grown Pony with this kind of ship… though mind enemy Beast Killers…
@DanielTepesKraus
Fluttershy of course she is the best pony
Background Pony #F0F4
@Technature: Just because a unit seems the strongest in a group doesn’t always mean they’re the best. Especially if they’re ground up in the very last chapters in the game.

More to the point: You can’t really talk about who is good and who isn’t without some context. I’m just saying endgame performance doesn’t seem like a good context for units because, again, if one unit can dominate everything in the last chapters, so can (or should) everyone else. One unit isn’t worth as much at that point. Looking at things from a wider scale gives more of an insight than looking at part of the picture. Just saying.
@Background Pony

I dunno, whenever I take the time to train the person, they usually end up being the strongest person in the group, easily beating people who I had been training the whole game and easily manages to get onto “Last Level Unit” tier.

Nino especially. There has not been a single game where I had her and she didn’t easily kill things. Yes, it takes a lot to make sure she doesn’t die, but it’s worth it.
