Twilicorn was one of the most disastrous things to happen to the franchise since 3.5. Most of EQG’s drama is mostly because it’s piggybacking on the Twilicorn drama, rather than it’s inherent lack of quality. And honestly, if they were so intent on Twilight becoming an Alicorn, they could have left it for a distant finale movie. Hell, they should have left it for a distant finale movie. That way, it’s claim to being canon would be more fragile, since there’d be no more series, and thus no more continuity, and adding to that, they’d have a much easier time exploring the concept in a 120 minute movie than cramming a half-assed reason why she should be an Alicorn that can be disproved with very little investigation and still trying to fit six songs in there with only a thirty minute timeframe.
