When I first saw this series a few years ago, this particular image honestly came off as hilarious, not because the subject was funny, but because it came off as Izzy being the “straight man” to Sunny being ridiculous.
Looking back after the rest of the series, though, you can really see foreshadowing of the feels to come. That the artist took a premise that seemed so absurd at first (in that you wouldn’t expect a pony story to deal with such a heavy issue) and turned it into something truly emotional and heartfelt is a testament to their talent.
