Because we’re evil. We are also good. Angels and Demons, Creators and Destroyers, both the greatest good and the greatest evil the world has ever seen. Because we all have potential, potential that can be followed to either end of the scale. Hence why referring to humanity as a collective is flawed; ‘we’ is formed from a collection of ‘I’s.
tl,dr: people tend to only see that we have the unique ability to destroy, while forgetting that we also have the unique ability to create.

Yeah, not mention some animals do pretty “barbaric” things to, like kill the young of their own kind, and such. Chimpanzees even eat monkeys, (which is practically cannibalism) bite fingers off, attack others for no reason, and wage “wars” on other chimpanzee groups.

Some are bad, most are good, but that don’t really do nothing for the zombie apocalypse if the good ones are all undead. Then, the latter half of the dystopia is a mob government. :D
To be more realistic, bad guys get more screen-time on the 10 o’clock news. Hollywood, government, crime report, etc. :I
