Huh, I didn’t know about that. Considering, they started work on Season 5, (it takes a year average to make each season, so right now, they’re probably finishing up making Season 6) they probably didn’t decide on it yet.

Not to mention, back before season 4 had started, someone asked Meghan McCarthy on Twitter if the CMC would get their cutie marks in season 4.
 
Her response? “Maybe in Season 5.” There was probably also some kind of emoticon at the end of it, but I don’t what it was.

This is very nice. They’ve come a long way from being the cute incompetent fillies they once were. They’ve probably had the most subtle character development the entire series.

Actually, I can’t recall a Season 4 CMC episode from last year that was really focused on them trying to get their cutie-marks, or even really mentioned cutie-marks. (Aside from Tiara calling them “blank-flanks,” which barely got a reaction from them, showing they’ve grown stronger.)
 
This is one of the reasons I started to suspect Season 5 they would get their marks.

Big changes, yeah. Instead of every CMC episode being “CUTIE MARKS CUTIE MARKS”, every CMC episode is going to be “THIS IS WHAT YOUR CUTIE MARK MEANS THIS IS WHAT YOUR CUTIE MARK MEANS”.
