On average you can expect between 2 and 18 meteors per hour. The number depends on what time of the year you’re viewing it in as the tilt of the earth has a large effect on it.  
This is only referring to times when there isn’t a meteor shower going on

I never really understood this song lyric. If you look up at the night sky meteors streak across it every few minutes. Just have a little patience dude meteorites come down all the time, can you wait five minutes?
