Uh, no idea what that means. Evil Celestia has been a fan concept since near the beginning; 2010-2011. Nightmare Star reignited Evil Celestia fan art starting with her Enterplay card in 2014-ish. Daybreaker is DHX’s official interpretation, seven years after the fact.
Meaning, Daybreaker’s precursors– Nightmare Star, Solar Flare, and any other Evil Celestia fan name– will supposedly become aliased tags.

Were one to go by show canon alone, it still hasn’t been directly addressed what Moon is. IDW’s explanation is too Saturday Morning for me to even, I agree. =_==

I’m not sure I get your point. Are you saying that for them to be the same, Nightmare Star would have to appear before. In the cartoon? What is the point, since we’re necessarily talking about fanon anyway?

The comic mess this up but I don’t care about them. Also, I don’t see a reason to think of Nightmare Moon as a different entity when Luna has so much guilt about the stuff she’s done as Nightmare Moon… Considering she actually had time to do anything as Nightmare Moon.

Some say they are the same, some different entities, high off of power, lost control to another, you get the idea.
well Stary is what i consider a “i had enough of this” Celestia would look like, so yeah (i see her as) being the same Celestia that we love.

Also, for Star and Celestia to be considered the same pony metaphysically, Star has to sorta make an actual appearance first…

Who says its evil celestia just because she has a flaming mane?
Twilight had her mane on fire when mad in one episode ( yeah for comedic purpose i know), so why not the actual princess of the sun?
I still prefer solar flare over the “midnight x” that the show/comics/cards do since its more original and doesnt really make sense in celestias case.

There was plenty of evil celestia before that card, it just gave us an official name.
