I understand the sentiment, but… when I was a teenager, she visited my city. I wanted to see what an actual queen of the sun-never-sets-on-the-british-empire legacy looked like, so I went to a street she was supposed to walk by. I went early to be close to the line and of course she was fashionably late, so I waited even longer. In the end, I spent several hours in quite chilly and wet weather. And then suddenly there she was, I was a few meters from her and could see her clearly for 20 seconds or so. But… somehow I expected something more. Some radiant aura of grace, authority and fame I guess. But in reality, she was just another aging lady in a fancy dress and lots of flunkies around her.
Funnily enough, she was once asked, why she always wore such colourful clothing and wore such elaborate hats.
She answered that if she didn’t, people would recognise that she was just another boring old lady.
