Twilight confronting her inner dark side as a final task before she becomes the sole ruler of Equestria would have made a lot of sense. Especially if it’s Twilight’s 5 friends fighting the evil Twilight on the exterior while Twilight wrestles against her dark side internally as her friends attempt to get through to her.
Instead of a Princess, you would have a Queen! And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! All shall love me and despair!
