Which would go with my head canon that Grogar was the one who started Starlight down her dark past, in order to try to corrupt Gustys bloodline.
I am kind of hoping for a plot twist like : Starlight is a descendent of Gusty the Great, which is why we haven’t seen her mother yet. And would really be an amazing explanation for The strength of Starlights magic.

Nope. It’s a pony based on the one of the same name from g1. They even have the same cutie mark.
And we know only ponies have cutie mark’s.
