Image comments

i feel dumb because it seems this should be very obvious or i’m blind and can’t find where it explains it.
 
How does one comment using an image?

Oh, of course, you’ll have to remove the spaces and put the actual url in there.

Then i’m blind.

Try one here. Find an image you want to link into the comments and surround it’s link location with the exclamation points. You could use this thread for practice.

Prolly a site that doesn’t it. Funnyjunk, fanpop, and places that share similar coding won’t work.  
Stuff like photobucket will, but you need to go to the actual pic and get the right image link from ‘share’. Just copying the url won’t do.

Indeed, you’ll need to include your image from a site that permits hotlinking.
 
I suggest imgur as a nice and quick solution.

Why are you throwing random code in? Just surround the plain image URL with exclamation marks.

The “Preview” tab is your best friend. You don’t have to make 6 failed posts in a row. All that failed effort, just to post a single image of a horse’s ass. Notice the buttons above the post field? There’s an “insert image” button there, so dou yon’t have to anything.

Don’t blame the site for your own technical incompetence.

The first embeds you used didn’t work, because you used the old embed syntax, and you didn’t even link to an image file, you linked to an entire page with an image. The embed system can only show images, not render HTML pages with megabytes of embedded Javascript. (And even if you had used the correct embed syntax and linked directly to the image, it might not have worked anyway: imgur was blokcing Derpibooru’s data center just a few days ago, but from what I’ve read, it should be resolved now.)

One final thing, why did you necro a 7-year old thread for this?
